I Said Boo, Not Poo!

From The Past: November 1, 2007

I said we would probably watch more movies this month, but that never happened. I didn’t watch even one Halloween movie. This is the first year in many, many years that I didn’t even watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. It’s okay though. We had a very nice Halloween.

These are the only two movies we did watch. You will notice we watched them on the same day.

10-28-07 Wild Hogs – This was a comedy about four middle-aged men taking a road trip on their motorcycles. It had a lot of well known actors and it did have some funny moments.

In my opinion this was one of those “one time” movies. Had my sister not rented it and let us borrow it, it would not have been something I would have spent money on. With that said, Andrew’s girlfriend told me they saw it in the theatre. All I can say is, there must not have been much to choose from that week!

It wasn’t bad or anything, but when I go to the theatre, I want to see something that needs to be seen on the big screen; an action movie or a drama like The Sixth Sense for example. I also don’t want to spend $6 a person or more on a comedy or a chick flick. I am probably in the minority here, but that’s my two cents.

10-28-07 1408 – This movie is based on the short story of the same name written by Stephen King in his book, Everything’s Eventual. It was a very interesting story and I thought John Cusack did an excellent job as the lead actor. Fortunately, I didn’t remember the details of the story, so nothing was ruined.

This movie looked very scary in the previews; however it is rated PG-13 so that should tell you something. You can watch this without concern of losing a night’s sleep and you will enjoy it at the same time. My sister let us borrow this one also. I haven’t seen the inside of a video store in a while!

*****

Believe it or not, my Halloween decorations came down this morning and the Thanksgiving stuff is sitting around; not that there’s much of it to sit around. I changed five calendar pages over to November before I went to bed last night.

I don’t like to let the grass grow under my feet when it comes to holiday decorations; especially after they have been up for a month. The ghosts we made for around the tree are taking a nice bath in the washing machine as I type this. Some of them must have frightened the birds really bad because there was plenty of evidence on a selected few. I hope the stains come out.
