Tuesdays with Morrie

From The Past: February 7, 2006

My thoughts on the book Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life’s Greatest Lesson written by Mitch Albom.

Tuesday’s With Morrie would have to be in my list of Top 20 books. It is the story of a middle-aged man who spends his Tuesday’s learning life lessons from his former professor who is now dying of Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Tuesday’s With Morrie was full of insight. Each page depicted what kind of person we should strive to be.

I admired many things that Morrie said, but one of my favorites was, “Death ends a life, not a relationship.”

I also appreciated the simple observations of everyday life; for example, when Mitch notices that while dying, Morrie has whiskers on his face. He ponders, “How could there be new life in his beard when it was draining everywhere else?”

I would highly recommend this book. It’s not long and it’s an easy and very engaging.
