Fundraiser

From The Past (September 10, 2003) It’s that time of year again; time for the school fundraiser! Does anyone remember World’s Finest Chocolate? https://worldsfinestchocolate.com/

They would put the name of your school on a candy bar wrapper and the child would walk door to door and sell the candy bars for $1 or so. They were wonderful candy bars and the chocolate would melt in your mouth.

Years ago, when I was in school, this is what we did. To me it seems a lot simpler than it is now. There were no orders to be filled and money to be turned in. There was no waiting for a month to get your orders in and then having to deliver them to the right person.

Don’t get me wrong, we did have fundraisers like this, but I really didn’t get involved with them. It’s a lot easier for mom and dad to ask coworkers to buy a $1 candy bar then it is for them to have people browsing a catalogue which mainly contains overpriced things that no one needs. I mean, how many candles can one person own? Maybe the school makes more money out of this type of fundraiser than the candy bar thing. I really don’t know.

Today Ashley brought home a catalogue from the AMERICAN TRENDS CORPORATION. While this company has very nice items, they’re not things that a person really needs. I guess you just have to keep in mind what my mom once said, “Consider it a donation.”

She’s right; the school gets some money out of it and you get a little “keepsake”. Now, who wants to order?
