From The Past: March 1, 2009
2-6-09 Heat – This movie is full of famous faces; even once you think you’ve seen them all, someone who is now famous pops up. Even though I did not know what Tone Loc looked like, I still recognized his voice. This is a crime drama, but it also has its share of action. The film takes place in LA where a detective is after a group of thieves. It is about three hours long, but honestly, Kevin and I agreed that a lot of the movie could have been left on the cutting room floor and it would not have made any difference to the main storyline at all. It was rated R for language and violence.
2-11-09 Before Sunset – An American man meets a Parisian woman on a train and they hit it off immediately. They spend an entire day with each other talking. This movie was so dull I about didn’t make it through the entire thing.
2-12-09 The Way We Were – I had seen the beginning of this movie, but never watched it the entire way through. It is the story of a woman with very strong political views who is not afraid to voice these views to anyone at any time no matter the setting. In an unforeseen circumstance, she winds up in bed with a man she has secretly admired for a long time. He does not agree with the woman being so assertive and this affects their relationship. I did not enjoy the way this film ended.
2-16-09 Gone in Sixty Seconds – In order to save his brother’s life, Nicolas Cage plays a man who has to steal and deliver fifty cars in a very short period of time. This is a fast-paced action movie with minimal cussing. I saw it years ago, but didn’t remember how good it was.
2-17-09 Step Brothers – When a man and woman fall in love and get married, their sons have to learn to live together. The catch is the sons are 39 and 40 years old and still living at home acting like kids. This movie had its funny moments.
2-18-09 Lucky Number Slevin – A man named Slevin is mistaken for another man who owes two crime bosses money. Both crime bosses take Slevin to the side to try and get the money owed to them. This was a very twisted, crime drama, but it was also very good.
2-21-09 The Joy Luck Club – This was a wonderful movie and the story of how Asian women raised their daughters and came to be the people they are now in America. I highly recommend this film.
2-21-09 Little Miss Sunshine – Yes, we watched this again, but this time it was with Ashley. She LOVED it!
2-28-09 Death Race – This was a fast-paced action movie. There were high-speed car chases, car crashes, prison fights, and lots of graphic violence and blood. I enjoyed it very much and would watch it again.
