Damages

From The Past: February 12, 2009

As you probably remember, January 27th was not a good night for our tree because of the ice storm. A few days later we realized it would probably need to be cut down, so we called in a professional.

Mr. Simpson of Simpson’s Tree Service was wonderful. He said he could just cut off the bad branches, but it would take many, many years for it to resemble anything normal. We made the decision to let him cut the whole thing down. His price was very reasonable in comparison to other tree services in town. We were blessed to find Mr. Simpson. He is a hard worker.

He and his wife worked through bitter temperatures, ice, and snow:

This is the way it looks today:

Mr. Simpson will be back in about a week to grind the stump.

Last night we had brutal winds. I heard a loud noise and asked Kevin to walk outside and check things out. I took pictures this morning of what he saw last night:

This is the fence between our yard and our neighbor’s yard. We did not erect this section of fence; it was there when we moved in. We only added on to it in order to fence in our own yard. What I am saying is this should be that owner’s responsibility to fix the fence. Honestly, it has needed replacing for several years now. I hope they get to it soon since we have Guido to deal with.

When I heard the winds last night (it sounded like a tornado going through), I was thankful the tree had been cut down last week. Had it not, I believe it would have been damaging to our house.

I rushed Ashley out the door this morning because we were running just a few minutes behind and I am very particular about time. Anyway, when I pulled up to the drop-off door, there were about ten kids standing around. Come to find out, school had been delayed an hour! I don’t know why because I haven’t watched the news, but I can only assume it is because of power outages. So, we came back home, did our thing for forty more minutes, and then I took her back.

Next week we have more snow in the forecast. I am ready to move down south!
