From The Past: January 31, 2009

Many years ago Ashley had her ears pierced. A few years after that, she decided she wanted a second piercing in only one ear. That piercing grew over because she never kept an earring in it; but she decided a few days ago that she wanted both ears pierced for a second time.

We took her to Claire’s in Hamburg and she used her own money.

She is very happy and assures us that she will keep earrings in the holes this time. I only have my ears pierced once and have never had any desire to have them pierced again. Multiple piercings are common, so Kevin and I had no qualms about Ashley’s second piercing. It makes me wonder though, how many parents would have put their foot down and said NO. I am sure there are some parents who think we are too lenient with Ashley, but she is not scarring her body, so it doesn’t bother me.
