From The Past: January 18, 2009
As I mentioned in Thursday’s post, school was called off Friday because everyone knew it would be too cold for children, tweens, and teens alike to stand outside at bus stops. This was a smart call seeing that the low was -3 and the high was 16 degrees.
You would have thought this would have kept Ashley and me in the house, but it didn’t! She was invited to a birthday party for Friday night, so I had made up my mind earlier in the week that I would travel to Lexington on Friday to buy the birthday girl a gift card for Aeropostale. Ashley making this trip with me actually saved me time in the long run. She made all A’s on her report card, so I promised her a pair of Skinny Jeans from this same store. I ended up getting her the jeans and a pair of shorts, plus the birthday girl’s gift card.
Let me back up though. Before we even got to Aeropostale we had to make a stop in Barnes & Noble. I bought Kevin a textbook, two books for a friend, one book for Ashley, and two boxes of vintage Valentine’s Day cards. After this, we went to Pier 1 imports. We didn’t buy anything in Pier 1, but I wanted Ashley to see where I had bought some of Andrew, Christina, and her Christmas presents and stocking stuffers. In my opinion, they have some really unique gifts. Aeropostale was next and then we had lunch at Cheddar’s. Ashley had steak for lunch … you see how this little trip is costing me more and more money.
We walked through Home Goods and I only spent about $5. Target was our last stop in Lexington. I bought a lamp for mine and Kevin’s desk, and a comforter for Ashley’s bed along with sheets. No, this was not planned.
Once back in Winchester, we did some grocery shopping at Wal-Mart and Ashley picked out a purple, fur throw rug. She also chose what will be her new bedroom color from the available paint color cards.
So, this is what we are down to: redecorating Ashley’s room. It has begun. She has chosen green as her wall color. It’s not bright like her comforter. It is actually a muted green and won’t be dark. Her accent colors are white and purple. She has a lamp with a purple shade along with a purple rug. As soon as we buy purple curtains, I believe we will have enough of the purple accent color she wants. Once we paint the walls, we will install new blinds and closet doors exactly the same as in Andrew’s room. Don’t ask me when this painting will take place because I really have no idea. It is sometimes best when I surprise myself and Kevin one weekend. Her room is LONG overdue for new paint.
