The New Yorker

From The Past: December 15, 2008

I was in a place a few weeks ago where I had to sit and wait. Lying on the coffee table next to me were a few magazines. I chose one, flipped through it and was immediately enthralled by one of the fiction stories.

I had heard of this magazine, but had never actually seen one although I am sure they are very common. Some of you have been holding back on me! I know at least one of my reader’s has to have read The New Yorker magazine. Why didn’t anyone tell me how good it was?!

I love to hear about other people, so this magazine is perfect for me. It has lots of interviews with people from actors, politicians, designers, Generals – you name the type of people and this magazine delivers. These aren’t quick two page interviews either; these interviews are in-depth of the person’s life.

Now, Kevin doesn’t care so much about hearing people’s life stories, so he doesn’t think he would enjoy this magazine and I don’t think he would either, but – people – why did you keep this from me? I also love, love, love the fiction stories. The cartoons are great too.

This is how I spent my Sunday afternoon:

The sun was shining in the door, so I plopped down with my newly acquired magazines and read for several hours. It was bliss!

I was able to buy these editions:

They are old to some, but new to me so I will get enjoyment from them.
