From The Past: December 3, 2008
As I decorated the Christmas tree with Kevin Friday afternoon, I pulled out a box I didn’t remember from previous years. Inside the box was the sweetest little Pug girl ever!
My parents bought it for me and gave it to me for Christmas last year. Since new ornaments are not placed on the tree until the following year, I had forgotten all about this cutie. I love surprise ornaments and there is usually one I have forgotten about every year.
Decorating the tree is touching for me because I think of the people who have given us certain ornaments throughout the years. When I begin saying their names in my head as I place their ornament on the tree, it is quite a few more people than I ever imagined.
Some of our ornaments wouldn’t mean anything to a number of people, but most of them signify a certain point in our lives; where I was working, or how much money we had. Yes, I am in deep thought when decorating the tree! Now, that is not to say that I’m not listening to Christmas music and singing at the same time. I multitask!
My parents were also kind enough to buy us this Pug tin full of popcorn:
I guess it isn’t specifically a Pug tin, but that is the most attractive breed and the breed which clearly stands out from the rest. When the popcorn is gone, I will keep the tin and use it for storing ornaments or other Christmas items in the attic. I discovered years ago that these tins are perfect for storing just about anything.
Lastly, I wanted to show you my sled:
I bought it many years ago, although I know you can still find them. I am pretty sure I just saw some similar sleds in Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago.
I used to put small presents in the sled, but now I use it to hold all of my Christmas CD’s. They fit perfectly.
