From The Past: October 16, 2008
Yesterday we cancelled our landline. You heard that right; we no longer have a landline number, only cell phone numbers. For the amount of use it received, it was not worth the $35 we paid each month.
Kevin is buying an Apple – iPhone. They are now half the price and will only cost us $200. This must kill all of you poor souls who paid the $400 price when they first came out. I know I will feel that same way when the price of this model drops even further which we all know will ultimately happen.
Some features of this phone include phone service, a camera, GPS, Internet, and email. This service will add $30 to our existing cell phone bill.
I also cancelled our subscription to our local newspaper, The Winchester Sun. In my opinion, this newspaper not only changed fonts and layouts, they eliminated Dear Abby completely, they posted a notice stating the police reports would no longer include all names, and there seems to be less and less news and extra and bigger advertisements. I have never appreciated the way they changed the headings on the classified ads even though that was years ago. So, the newspaper had to go the same as my TV Guide subscription.
Our subscription ends on the 21st of this month. I will buy the Sunday edition of the Herald-Leader from now on. You get a lot of bang for your buck if you buy it on Sunday.
