Happier At Home

From The Past: October 8, 2008

Mom was released from the Markey Cancer Center on Monday. They sent her home with five different medications that must be administered intravenously. Dad was reminded of the proper techniques he must use when overseeing the medicines since there is always a risk of infection getting in the Power Picc.

She has to walk around the house with an IV pole, so this is a challenge. It does not have wheels like the ones in the hospital, so she has to physically pick it up when moving around.

Try keeping a pole balanced which is holding a heavy bag of liquid! I don’t think it would be easy especially if the person is tired or, in some cases, trying to move quickly. I don’t know how long she will be on this regimen, but I do know she is much happier at home than in the hospital.
