From The Past: August 5, 2008
Since we were gone for a week on vacation and before that, at the Markey with mom every day, there wasn’t a lot of time for movie watching in July. In fact, we only watched three movies.
7-7-08 Gone Baby Gone – If you can get past the language, this is a terrific film about a little girl who has been kidnapped from the Boston area. The main characters are working with the police trying to find her. The plot seems simple enough, but there are several twists added to the pot to make things even more interesting.
7-7-08 Elizabeth: The Golden Age – This movie was right up my alley. It’s about Queen Elizabeth and her relationships with Sir Walter Raleigh (played by Clive Owen) and Spain. The costumes are beautiful and Cate Blanchett does a wonderful job in her reoccurring role as Queen Elizabeth.
7-10-08 Ocean’s Thirteen – The guys plan a third heist in a new casino where everything is being monitored by the latest top-of-the-line computer. This movie was awesome, as were the two that came before it!
*****
I have begun reading Twilight which is the first of four books. I am a little over 100 pages in and I am totally hooked. I kid you not when I tell you that Ashley read this book in less than a day. I am an avid reader, but not what you would consider a fast reader.
Ashley devoured four books in four days; four THICK books! You have to take in consideration that she laid in bed all day each day reading. She was enthralled to say the least. I, on the other hand, have obligations and cannot read all day, so it will take me a few days to finish just this first book. She has now read each book over again and we only bought them last week. https://amzn.to/3WQ5hOa
