Day 5
We visited the Magic Kingdom again and, once again watched the Rope Drop in the morning. The Rope Drop is where the characters come out and open the park for the day.
After eating a delicious breakfast at the Main Street Bakery, Ashley and I rode the Astro Orbiter. The three of us rode the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway, Mad Tea Party, It’s A Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, and The Haunted Mansion. Lastly, we watched an audio-animatronics show in The Hall Of Presidents.
Following this, we took a shuttle bus to Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney has no rides; it just consists of restaurants, lots of shops, and bars. We were there for the shops. We went through Once Upon A Toy, LEGO Imagination Center, Virgin Megastore, Magnetron Magnets, and Mickey’s Groove. (We had previously visited the other stores at Downtown Disney on day 4.) Ashley ate a pepperoni pretzel from Wetzel’s Pretzels which she thought was delicious, and then we took a shuttle bus to Epcot.
Ashley ate a hotdog while Kevin and I had giant turkey legs all from Fife & Drum. The turkey legs were not like regular turkey legs. These tasted like ham and had long pieces of gristle running all through them. I don’t even want to know where they get these things!
We watched a theatrical show at The American Adventure Pavilion. The main reason we returned to this park was to see their nighttime show, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. It was a nice show, but the light parade and fireworks at the Magic Kingdom were our favorites. Besides eating more and more junk food, this ended day 5.
Day 6
On our last day at Disney, we visited Hollywood Studios again. We rode Star Tours, which is a motion theatre type of ride. We then rode Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith which we rode on day 2. It is so fast and so much fun; we had to ride it again one last time.
We had lunch at the ABC Commissary. Let me give you a little advice: don’t order the hamburgers. I hated the texture of the things. They were dense and hard to chew. Ashley liked them and said they tasted just like school hamburgers. I explained to Ashley that I had a dislike of school hamburgers since I tried one in third grade. I actually took one bite of it and then, very lady-like, let it roll out of my mouth into a napkin and wadded it up. I didn’t even care that the meal was $8. Whatever that meat was, it was not going into my body. On a positive note, the French fries are excellent. They were always hot and fresh.
We walked through shops and then rode through The Great Movie Ride, like on day 2, to cool off as it was a very hot day. The last attraction we watched was Muppet Vision 3-D before going through more shops.
We waited at our resort until the shuttle bus picked us up and took us to the airport. Our flight from Orlando to Charlotte was delayed two hours because of lightening, however we arrived in Charlotte just in time to catch our plane back to Lexington. Both plane rides were uneventful and we arrived back in Winchester around 12:30AM.
I’m glad we took this trip. We had a great time and now I will be more inclined to visit other places. I am sure Ashley will always have wonderful memories from this vacation.
