Pediatrician’s Office

From The Past: February 1, 2007

Ashley missed school today. It seems as if she’s been on one antibiotic or another for a month now. You would think she would be so full of medication; she couldn’t possibly get sick. Think again!

She has a cold and an ear infection and is now on a new antibiotic. If things happen as they have been, she will take this medicine for ten days and then as soon as she returns to school on the eleventh day, she will get sick again. We can hope not, but the possibility is real.

This is the waiting room at her pediatrician’s office in Lexington:

There are four or five doctors in this office and we never have to wait long. Today we waited five minutes tops.

I remember way back, when we went to a pediatrician’s office in Winchester. The waiting room was shoulder-to-shoulder parents with their crying, sick children. Everyone was in total misery. I remember waiting for over an hour to be seen by that doctor on every single visit. Now days, I think that waiting time is totally outrageous and unacceptable and I would never wait that long again. There are more doctors than one!
