From The Past: December 11, 2006
Saturday morning, we rang the bell for The Salvation Army at Wal-Mart. The money donated goes to help a family in need. You can sign up for half hour increments, but for the last two years, we have signed up for an hour. At 32 degrees Saturday morning, it was very cold.
When we were finished ringing the bell, Kevin surprised me by suggesting we go see the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale. We bought a giant tub of buttery popcorn and the biggest coke I have ever seen. There is no way we could have finished that coke during the movie. If we had, we would have been in trouble! The movie was action-packed and I really liked the new Bond.
We got to the theatre before noon, so traffic wasn’t that bad, but by the time we got out, it was bumper to bumper. I have never seen traffic so bad in the Hamburg area not to mention on Man-O-War. I wanted to get as far away from there as soon as possible.
We bought Ashley her third coat since the cold set in. So far, we have bought her a blue jean jacket, a nice, dressy coat, and now a warm coat to play in and take to school. It’s not as if it could be helped. She had outgrown everything and needed all new coats. Next year, we’ll go through the same thing, I’m sure.
Yesterday afternoon, Kevin made Peanut Butter Fudge and Peanut Butter Roll:
It is creamy and delicious!
I love everything about this…but especially seeing the peanut butter roll (what we call mashed potato candy). My grandmother made it every year for Christmas…it was always something I looked forward to. I haven’t had it in years but I can still taste it in my mind.
