Labels For Education

From The Past: October 29, 2006

Ashley’s school, along with countless other schools across the country, collect Campbell’s Soup labels. As far as I understand it, the school then turns the collected labels in to the company. The more labels they collect, the more stuff they are eligible to receive for the school.

The last time I turned in labels was at the end of Ashley’s third grade year, around May 2004. We have been saving them again ever since. I always know when it’s once again time to donate when my gallon-size Ziploc bag refuses to close.

I decided this afternoon would make the perfect time to clip the labels down to a manageable size, count them, and then put them into a new bag for Ashley to take to school tomorrow. Andrew was a blessing with this process! It would have taken me forever had he not helped.

The final count was 500. Ashley has 500 labels to turn in tomorrow. I thought you might be interested to know which soups we buy the most, thus giving us the most labels. Yes, I divided them all out, wrote them down, and tallied each group separately. I couldn’t help myself!

We had:

215 Bean & Bacon

58 Chicken Noodle

37 Family Size: Vegetable Beef

37 Cream of Mushroom

34 Cream of Chicken

22 Chicken with White & Wild Rice

17 Vegetable Beef

14 Old Fashioned Vegetable

Although the remainder of the labels numbered 7 and below for each one, there were 24 more varieties of soup. I didn’t know there were that many varieties!

*Members of my family gave me their labels and that’s why I didn’t recognize some.
