I went to my dad’s house for a visit today. I hadn’t seen him since a few days before his surgery and was excited to see him face-to-face.
He looked terrific for someone who just had major surgery. He showed me his scar on his chest. He has no staples and only a few stitches at the end of his cut. The doctor made very neat work of it. The place on his leg where they removed the vessels looked worse for wear than his chest, but I think that’s because it’s very near the bend in his knee. I would think since it moves more, it may take longer to heal.
His breathing was much better and he said he has already noticed a difference in the way his body feels. He is only supposed to walk around the house twice a day for about 10 minutes each time.
He has a walker to help him get around. Each leg has a wheel. It also has a seat and a place under the seat for storage. He can sit down anywhere when he gets tired! It also has hand breaks similar to a 10-speed bike. It’s nice!
It was great to see him and spend time together.
The way he showed off his scar, it reminded me of the book Madeline! Glad he’s doing well. Is he allowed to eat normally and go driving and shopping and other activities like that. Like, food shopping would require walking for more than 10 minutes.
