Dad will be released from the hospital tomorrow! Yea! He said that he had to meet certain criteria in order to leave. For example, he had to have a bowel movement. I remember when both Andrew and Ashley were born, this was a requirement before leaving the hospital at that time as well. He also had to be able to walk down the hall and back. He said they were very happy he was able to take 175 steps his first time out.
He has to be very careful not to pull anything in his chest when he sits or stands because that could put him back in the hospital for a month of recovery. For this reason, he plans to get a nice walker with a seat attached so he can use it to maneuver around the house and sit when he gets tired. I have mentioned before that his house is all on one level, which is wonderful at a time like this. Even though our house only has about five steps to get to the front porch, they are steep steps which may have caused him pain had he still been living here.
I believe his instructions are to relax and take it easy at home for the next four to six weeks and then he will begin rehab locally for another six weeks. Between you and me, this will be the hardest part for him. Mom used to say, “He likes to run all the time.” Meaning: he likes to be on the go. It’s hard for him to sit still. Even when he is sitting, he’s working on something, crafting, painting, assembling – all the time. This is going to test his patience.
Once again, I very much appreciate your thoughts and well-wishes for his health. This isn’t something I plan to mention in vlogs, unless he wants to talk about it. I mention it on this platform because, quite honestly, I think only a handful of people read it. I don’t believe he is aware of this blog and I would never want him to think I didn’t respect his privacy.
That is great news! I hope his recovery continues to go well!
Thank you!
So happy to hear this! Glad he is doing so well Tami. 🙏
Thank you!
