Germs

Currently (2020): The blog post below from 2004, comes at a very interesting time since everyone seems to be very aware of germs at this time. I don’t believe that much has changed for me. I still wash the same items today that I did back then before using them. I can say that my drink of choice has changed. It went from Diet Sunkist to Coke Zero and now I am using powdered flavor packets in water. I still never drink from a can if I can avoid it. It’s not that I’m worried about germs, I simply do not like cans.

From The Past: April 28, 2004

I overheard an interesting conversation that some ladies were having on television. They were discussing things that you should wash before you use them even though they are new. Here is a list of just some of the new things I wash before I use:

*bed linens

*towels and wash cloths

*undergarments

*socks

*fruits and vegetables

*bathing suits

*anything that one would use in the kitchen

I know that not everyone washes their linens before using them. The only reason I do this is to take the stiffness out. Some of you might not pre-wash your socks either. I do this to eliminate the extra fuzz. It really does seem to help especially with dark socks. I know that my neighbor washes the lid of her cans off before she drinks from them. I think this is a great idea especially if you drink directly from the can. You never know who or what has touched it. I never wash mine off just because I can’t stand drinking from a can. I always have a glass of whatever I’m drinking, normally Diet Sunkist, over ice and preferably with a straw. Real classy, I know!

Sunday night at church we had a sort of pot luck dinner, but right before eating we had all shaken hands with at least ten other people. I made sure that Kevin and I used my handy little bottle of water-less soap. The couple next to us used some of it also. Did anyone else even think about washing their hands? If they did, I didn’t see them. I know that some of them probably think that I am a huge germaphobe, but I’m not. I just like to be clean.
