From The Past: February 21, 2004
We have lived in this house for almost eight years. It took us about four years before we decided to make it our own by painting the walls the color we wanted. To date, every room has been painted except for the utility room (where the washing machine and dryer are) and the kitchen. Since we moved in, the kitchen has been an eye sore, but we never knew what in the world to do with it.
With the other rooms in the house now being to our liking and looking so good, it makes the kitchen look doubly unattractive. To make things worse, the kitchen is the first room that you see upon entering our house. Most houses start you off in the living room. Not ours! You walk into a short, narrow entryway, look left and there is the kitchen in all its glory. This is another reason why I hate for people to pop in unannounced. Anything that we cook can really be smelled from the front door and the mess can also be clearly seen.
We have finally decided what we want to do with it. It will be bold and colorful and I hope in the end – beautiful. I will take before and after pictures, but don’t expect anything too soon. This is going to be a “work in progress” for a while. The first things we are changing this weekend are the lights. There were three of the ugliest lights you have ever seen in there! None of them matched or were even in the same family. They were just hideous! So, today we went to Lowe’s and bought new lights. We bought two of the single lights in the picture below. One will go over the sink and the other is in the middle of the room.
This is the main light that goes over the table:
They should be beautiful and much easier on the eyes!
