That was actually pretty easy except for the last one. I am never late, so it was hard for me to think of a response.
From The Past: November 6, 2003
Yesterday Kevin got to come home half a day early because of a storm which shut off the power at his place of employment. Since the kids were still in school, we opted to watch the movie 8 Mile with Eminem. Just as expected, the language was bad and there were some fist fights; if there hadn’t been, it wouldn’t have been Eminem, but I am so glad that the kids weren’t at home. I wouldn’t want them to hear all that! It was an okay movie, but not one that I would care to see again. In my opinion, it wasn’t much of a story.
I felt the same way when I watched The Good Girl starring Jennifer Aniston a few weeks ago. I loved watching Jennifer Aniston but, I kept waiting for there to be more substance or a deeper meaning and it just wasn’t there. Aniston plays a store clerk who has an affair with a much younger employee. This employee thinks that he came right out of the book Catcher in the Rye.
Maybe that’s why I didn’t really like it; because references were made about that book throughout the movie, and that book was really dreadful. I read it about a year ago thinking since it was a classic, it HAD to be good. Nope! It was really bad. Like Linus waiting for The Great Pumpkin; nothing ever happened! I guess at least I can say that I’ve read it.
I am currently reading Anne Rice’s: Blood Canticle. I’ll let you know about that one just as soon as I’m finished with it.
You’re the only other person that I know of so far that hasn’t liked Catcher in the Rye. I read it years ago & thought the main character was annoying. I didn’t get why people loved the book so much. One day, I might read it again to see if my opinion changes.
