Currently 2019: I have shown Flushable Wipes in many of my grocery hauls, but I always try to say that even though they are labeled “Flushable”, we never actually flush them. They are known far and wide to be a plumber’s best helper. Why? Because if you continue to flush them, they build up inside your pipes and you have no choice but to call the plumber in to unclog the pipe. If you don’t believe me, please read this story in TODAY’S news: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/oct/29/bus-sized-fatberg-cleared-from-london-sewer
If you are flushing these, do your pocketbook a favor and start throwing them in the garbage.
From The Past: October 29, 2003 Two weeks ago, I took Ashley to the doctor. The tube in her ear was clogged and couldn’t drain which caused an infection. However, once she took Amoxicillin, it quickly passed.
This past Sunday her throat started getting sore and she began to cough. She again complained about the same ear. This was just a few days after she had finished the Amoxicillin. I found some antibiotic ear drops that the doctor had prescribed after she had her tubes put in. I also started giving her cough medicine and used a Triaminic Vapor Patch on her chest at night.
Needless to say, she is still sick. She says that her ear doesn’t hurt at all, but her cough is what worries me. It hasn’t gotten any better at all even with the medicine. I will call and make her an appointment shortly and then see what happens.
The sad thing is that tomorrow night is trick-or-treat and she will have double the homework to do because she will have to make-up today’s work. You wouldn’t think that a child her age would have that much to make up, but they do! Maybe I will call the school and have them get her homework together so that I can pick it up. They’ll do that for you if you ask.
*UPDATE*
The doctor said that she does not have bronchitis or strep throat; only a slightly swollen gland in her neck. He said that both of her ears are fine: no infection! YEA!!! He prescribed two different medicines. One is an expectorant and will make her coughs more productive and the other is a decongestant.
I decided since it wasn’t as severe as I had feared, to take her in to school. That way she won’t have as much work to make up. I’m thinking that every Halloween, she’s on some kind of medicine. Her doctor said that this is the time of year for croupy coughs since it’s getting colder and colder at night. Hopefully, we will all get used to the cooler temperatures soon 🙂
Did Ashley have tube implants? Do those eventually get removed. I had chronic ear infections but my mom was against the implants and I grew out of it.
She did eventually have tubes put in her ears and they worked wonders. That said, they are meant to fall out as a person’s ear grows (with age). Instead of Ashley’s falling out, her skin grew around the tubes. She had to have a special surgery to have them removed. Come to find out, the ear doctor that put the tubes in was using very old tubes and not the new, updated tubes that come out easier. He was an elderly doctor and had never changed over to new tubes or methods.
