From The Past: October 25, 2003
A few weeks ago, my parents gave Christmas money to my sister Jennifer and her husband Harold and to Kevin and myself. They said that we could divide the money in half or spend it all together as a couple. Jennifer and Harold decided to spend it all together as a couple and buy a new couch and love seat for their living room. It was delivered about a week ago.
Today Jennifer had one of those home interiors parties. I tried to get her to have the party in her basement because I knew that there would be food and I didn’t see any sense in risking the new couch. Dad and mom thought the same thing. They offered to loan her tables to set up in the basement and everything, but she wouldn’t hear of it. They have a finished basement so it wasn’t like it would have been in a lesser space.
So, we’re at the party and the demonstrator has finished her part. She’s had to bring two little girls with her for some reason which I really don’t remember. I’m pretty sure that one of them was her niece. Well, the little girl with blonde hair was just lying in the floor and everyone was trying to get their plates and eat and she was right in the way. The demonstrator thought that she was tired so she moved her to the couch and told her that she would just have to sit there. The next thing I know the little girl is puking green vomit all over Jennifer and Harold’s new couch. The demonstrator caught some of it in her hand, but it was clearly too late. When Jennifer and I jumped up to get her some wash clothes she puked again.
The demonstrator cleaned up the mess and laid the girl back down on the floor for the remainder of the party. Jennifer sprayed Lysol, but it didn’t do any good. The longer I sat there, the more the smell was getting to me and finally I had to get out of there. I was the first one to leave, but I couldn’t help it.
In case you’re wondering how Kevin and I are spending our Christmas money; we decided to split it in half. Kevin is buying what he wants and I am buying what I want.
