In today’s vlog on my YouTube channel, I discussed some songs that I find to be very sad. I just thought of another one! This has to be the most depressing song EVER – Cat’s In The Cradle. If you have never heard it, do yourself a favor and keep it that way.
Here are a few other sad or very depressing songs that have come to mind. Let me know if you agree.
The Christmas Shoes (NewSong)
Someone Like You (Adele)
Mr. Bojangles (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) – I don’t know why, but I have always found this song sad.
Puff the Magic Dragon (Peter, Paul & Mary)
There are a slew of country songs I could name. George Jones sang quite a few all by himself.
Kevin made a great point when I asked him which songs made him sad. He said, “Depending on the circumstances, any song can make you sad. It just depends on what you were going through at the time you heard it.” This is so true. There are a number of songs that remind me of my mom. Most of them make me happy, however, if I’m missing her more than usual, those same songs can send me on a downward spiral. I’m sure I’m not alone.
Everybody Hurts by R.E.M.
There are many songs that make me feel sad or just are not pleasant and uplifting… Mary do you know. That’s my enemy at Christmas I am shopping and with tears in my eyes lol.. It’s a female thing I guess.. I wish they all had to play the beach Boys Christmas album that’s not gonna make anyone cry.. Oh I remember the song the night that the lights went out in Georgia and seasons in the sun.. And of course I think when the doves cry and purple rain are sad but maybe because I watched in the movie purple rain. I use too think the song hopelessly devoted to you from grease was sad cause she lost Danny.. Oh to be young again… Hope you are all doing well and I am looking forward to seeing your Halloween but I do have a question with that house being so decorated across the street do you get a huge amount of trick or treaters. Just wondering when we bought our home about 15 yrs ago we had about 600 kids and we decorated our yard nothing like that house by you but we played a tape of spooky sounds and we have inflatables of pumpkins etc.. Hope you get no tricks on your beautiful home..
We get fewer and fewer kids every year. I would guess we had 50 last year. These days, there are places for them to go that didn’t exist when I was a kid. The town tries to give them a safe place to get candy though (which is great). Churches do the trunk-or-treat thing, but also the merchants on Main Street give out candy.
Really wow that’s great you still have kids coming.. I’ll let you know how my Halloween goes it cold or raining of course we will not see any one…
