Three

The Past: August 30, 2003

We had a yard sale. It rained off and on the entire time. I think we covered and uncovered at least eight times. Each time that we uncovered items, the people would come. It seemed like they showed up out of nowhere. Between the three families (ours, my sisters, and my parents) we brought in over $560. I think that’s really good considering the weather. It makes me wonder how much we would have made if it hadn’t rained at all. But I am very grateful for what we did make. We donated the left-over clothes to the Goodwill. They said that they had been getting lots of yard sale leftovers all day.

Something amazing: There were THREE wrecks right in front of my parent’s house. They live on an extremely busy street and they get lots of wrecks there anyway. Today with the weather combined with the yard sales, it was just downright dangerous. Instead of watching the road, people were craning their necks to see what the yard sales had to offer without even slowing down. Bad move. It just amazes me. THREE wrecks! And one of those involved THREE cars! A word of advice: always watch the road. I was a nervous wreck by the time we left.

My aunt came over from Lexington and spent the day with us at the sale. Afterwards, we all went out to eat at Pizza Hut. It was nice to all get together. It had been a while.
