The Past: May 23, 2003
Kevin and I worked in the yard for three hours. We trimmed the Weeping Willow. It looks 100% better now. It’s amazing what a difference a trim makes. After that, Kevin cleaned out the gutters. We had one that wasn’t working at all because it had years of dirt build-up in it. The next time it rains we will have to see how well they are working.
The kids have had a fort out back for the past six years. This is the same fort that was home to the mother Robin and her babies. Now that she has gone, we have decided to give the fort to my sister and her husband. Around the fort we used landscaping timbers to enclose the area. We also used bags of mulch to make it really seem like a playground.
We are supposed to be moving the fort tomorrow. It should be very interesting. I will let you know how it turns out. Let’s just say that the fort is extremely heavy and there will only be six people here trying to move it onto a car trailer. I would laugh, but I will be one of the ones helping.
In anticipation for tomorrow, after cleaning the gutters, we removed all of the landscaping timbers and put them on the curb. We also began moving the mulch to fill in areas around the pool. It will take us a while to move all of that mulch, but I am grateful that we have it. It can be so expensive when you buy it by the bag.
I still have no idea what Andrew won for getting first place at the academic expo last night. I would have thought that he would have asked at school today, but he said that it slipped his mind.
