Reality Medical Shows

I’m going to admit to something here that I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned in a YouTube video.

I like Dr. Pimple Popper. Yes, I do!

I’m one of those people who always enjoyed popping a pimple even though I wasn’t supposed to. Fortunately, I never had to deal with any severe acne like some of my friends did in high school. In several cases, male friends had acne so severe, it looked painful. Their faces were not only red, but swollen as well.

I discovered Dr. Pimple Popper (Dr. Sandra Lee) probably about a year ago on YouTube. Very often, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I wondered at first if it was somehow fake, but, it’s not; it’s very real.

Dr. Lee has gained so much popularity, she now has her own show on TLC. Each episode normally deals with four different cases of people dealing with various skin problems. These lumps and bumps are either filled to capacity with white goo or they come out looking like a chicken cutlet. Most times, the bumps are harmless and never return, however she has also dealt with skin cancers or reoccurring bumps. If you don’t have the TLC network, just do a search for her on YouTube. I think it’s fascinating.

TLC has a new show coming out called My Feet Are Killing Me. By the name you can probably guess what this show will be about – people with foot problems. They aired a 9-minute sneak peek video last week which you can watch on their website. I’ll have to watch the show once it airs on a regular basis.

Back in 1992, there was a show on TV called The Operation. It aired on TLC or The Discovery Channel or one of those channels that catered to learning. They filmed operations like hernia repair, vasectomy’s and c-sections and showed all of it on TV as far as I can recall. I remember Kevin cringing or turning his head away because he couldn’t bear to watch certain things. I don’t know when they started burring everything on educational TV in America or when TLC stopped being THE LEARNING CHANNEL, but it would seem that they may be returning to their roots.

There are so many terrific medical shows in the UK. I always wonder why we don’t have them here. I think it’s because we are stuffier about what is allowed to be shown on TV. Some of their medical shows are: GP’s Behind Closed Doors, Embarrassing Bodies and Celebrity Botched Up Bodies. You can watch most of these on either YouTube or Netflix. Just keep in mind that they do not blur private parts. I wonder if they have their own version of Dr. Pimple Popper?

In case I haven’t grossed you out enough, let me mention just a few more videos. I also enjoy watching “Jigger Removal” on YouTube. A jigger is another name for a chigoe flea. It is an insect that penetrates the skin and feeds on the cells. I have watched removal of jiggers from the fingers and feet. These videos are not for the squeamish. Also, there are YouTube videos where they remove wax and bugs from the ear. If you like Dr. Pimple Popper, you may become obsessed with these videos as well.

Kevin cannot tolerate any of these videos which means I pull one up on my monitor and leave it paused on the worst part. <Evil Grin>

  1. I also love watching Dr Pimple Popper, some people may find it disgusting, but I absolutely love that sort of thing !

  2. I’m like Kevin lol. Stuff like that makes my skin crawl! Whenever someone shares a video like that I close my eyes and quickly scroll lol

  3. The absolute best part of seeing one of those procedures is seeing someone, tormented by a cyst or other condition for possibly years, experience the relief of having it removed (wishing they hadn’t waited so long.) Any makeover show, weight-loss show and the like just brings me so much joy!

    1. Exactly! I think that’s why they r so intriguing and and satisfying. Like now these poor people can live a bit for freely and we feel a great sense of relief knowing they feel so much better

  4. Have u ever seen botfly removal videos? I feel a great sense of relief when something so disgusting like that is finally removed. And if u really want to induce vomiting, and ur really brave, there r brain infested maggot videos too

  5. My wife and I came across this show a few weeks ago on TV called Married At First Sight, have you heard of it/seen it?
